Environmental Drilling

What is Environmental Drilling?

Environmental Drilling utilizes many of the same techniques of geotechnical drilling to obtain soil samples with the addition of obtaining data of chemical or biological contamination.

This is possible by thoroughly decontaminating (or deconning) the drill rig and all of its tooling with methods such as high-pressure steam cleaning to insure that the samples obtained are representative of actual subsurface conditions. Monitoring wells can then be installed to determine any impact to the groundwater aquifers encountered.

When conditions permit, Geoprobe is a cost effective and quick way to obtain both discrete soil and water samples from many depths. When soil conditions preclude the use of a Geoprobe (too hard or unstable), then a drill rig is the preferred method. The use of a rig also allows for SPT (standard penetration test) sampling as well as larger diameter well installation.

RD-n-P Drilling, Inc. offers a wide variety of drilling methods to ensure your project is completed right the first time, regardless of the type of formation encountered. Our Environmental drilling teams have many years experience installing the following, in various sizes, depths and material types:

Experienced

RD-n-P Drilling, Inc. has drilled and installed several Monitoring, Observation, Vapor Extraction, Gas Extraction, Leachate Extraction, and Ground Water Pumping Wells at numerous landfill sites. These sites are comprised of Superfund and RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) sites, Municipal landfills and Private landfills. Our experienced crews have successfully installed various single, double, and triple cased wells to several hundred feet including multilevel Waterloo System Monitoring Wells. We have had the opportunity to work with some of the largest environmental engineering firms in the country on Agricultural and Industrial Sites and also for major oil companies on Petroleum sites.

Quick response and efficiency is obtained at RD-n-P by keeping our shelves well stocked with all of the environmental supplies you may need. Our strong supplier relationships allow us the confidence to know we can respond to you even in the event that you require a specialized product.
